Human Resources Domain Council

The UW’s human resources data domain council launched in March of 2021. The council is led by a domain council chair with members who are both sub-domain stewards and subject-matter experts. Learn more about UW’s stewardship model.

Topics & Initiatives

The Human Resources data domain council is currently working on:

  • Mapping business processes for registering and assessing personal data processing. Learn more.
  • New data analyst security roles for Workday
  • Integrating HR data with the new IOS structure
  • New processes, policies, and authorized use agreement for faculty and staff demographic data dashboards

Meeting Topics & Outcomes

  • HR Hierarchy implementation: With the Financial transformation (FT) project going live in July the UW will be sunsetting our current organizational code structure and has a need for each data domain that has relied on that structure to have the ability to map to the new institutional organization code (IOS). HR did not have a native structure to do that and have been working on the HR Hierarchy inside Workday as a replacement. This work will continue through FT go-live as a priority of the council.
  • Implementation and Training for the new Demographic Data Use Policy: With the Provosts signing of the new Demographic Data Use Policy, the HR data domain has been working in partnership with the Privacy Office to disseminate, train and consult on the new policy. This work will remain a focus for the council with a goal of empowering information to be used in a compliant way. The HRDDC is committed to finding creative ways to help units and organizations with the UW accomplish their data requirements while actively and carefully protecting the privacy of individuals.
  • Financial Transformation (FT) Policy and Data Decision Support: The HRDDC has been actively working with the FT Program and other data councils to review, analyze and provide recommendations to data concerns and issues throughout the FT program. This partnership will continue to be a main focus of the council in alignment with the priorities set by the HR Data Steward.
